What makes you think the online marketing business is any different?

While it is most certainly true that some people without a formal education can make money online – running up to the thousands of dollars a month – they still got everything they know from somewhere; from someone. Nobody is born knowing absolutely everything about online businesses, and chances are you yourself are looking to make money online with minimal knowledge on how to do so.

Know the basics of business
Business is a harsh and cruel environment, where only the strongest and most cunning of individuals can prosper for long. This is especially true for the Internet, which is basically one huge ocean of competitors all jostling for a niche to make some money from. Getting the attention of the Internet browser and keeping it for at least 20 seconds is a much more difficult task than you’d think it to be.

Know how to turn ‘eyeballs’ into ‘sales’
Now that you have people interested in what you have to sell, you then need to convince them to part with their money. The difference between raking in the cash and staring at an empty bank account lies in your ability to do this, especially if you are in a market saturated with about a thousand other people selling the exact same thing you are.

Have a product of your own to sell, or sell someone else’s – build a website, or have someone build it for you – and you too, can become an instant millionaire working from home in your PJ’s. We’ve all heard these stories and, unfortunately for many, right at this minute the world is full of people in meeting rooms, or on the internet, being convinced that this is indeed fact. It’s not! The odds of you becoming wealthy are not too bad if you apply yourself, learn and apply what you learn to your business, but the odds of you becoming wealthy quickly are about the same as winning the lottery! The sad fact is that most people who try to do business on the internet will not be successful, will ultimately give up, and lose – not make – money on their internet home business.

Doing business on the internet is simple? Yes – and No.

The CONCEPT is simple (in fact it’s the same as for an old fashioned retail store, local service or profession). Have a good product – locate customers or clients who need (and/or want) your product – make these customers or clients aware of your product and convince them of the benefits of your product – make them an offer that convinces them to buy your product or service – make the sale and deliver the product with great service -and finally, turn these customers or clients into missionaries who will tell everyone they know about you and your product. In internet marketing terms; have a good product to sell – have a place to sell it (a website or blog) – attract potential customers or clients to your website or blog – capture the address of these prospects for follow-up – convert these prospects into buyers who will provide references – resell your buyers (much easier and cheaper than getting new customers).

Let’s expand that a little bit:

Have a plan – know what you want to do.
Do market research to determine what products people want to buy.
If you don’t have your own product, select products of others to sell.
Build effective platforms (websites or blogs) to sell products from.
Drive traffic to your site (there are many ways).
Capture addresses of visitors to your site for legitimate no spam follow-up.
Convert prospects to buyers – and repeat buyers.
Deliver your products or services.
Collect your money.

Each of these steps has multiple techniques or strategies to get them accomplished, so yes, the concept is simple, but knowing how to implement the strategies and techniques to get it done is something else again.

I urge you to learn the basic strategies and techniques of internet marketing and doing business on the internet before you commit a great deal of time, and money, without knowing what you are doing. The learning curve is steep – and expensive. I thought internet marketing my service and products on the internet would be easy. I was wrong. Oh sure, you can find any number of “Internet Gurus” who will give (or sell) you a “can’t fail” system but you can be pretty sure of two things:

You will be offered “upgrades” or “supporting programs” which will be costly.
The “Internet Guru” will have given (or sold) the “can’t fail” system to hundreds, maybe thousands, of other people, many of whom have a lot of experience and knowledge of internet marketing. They will be your competition.

Think about that for a minute. Do you need, or can you afford, upgrades or supporting programs? How can you be sure that your site will be at the top of the rankings, and your conversion rate such that you don’t lose any valuable visitors (prospects) that do find your site? As an engineer progress in their careers they move away from technical analysis and design to managerial tasks. The head of an engineering department spends perhaps 95% of his day on management and maybe 5% on engineering. The lowly Project Engineer will spend 95% of his day on technical designs and analysis, and maybe 5% on a management task. Due to a lack of business skills, some engineers are unable to make the leap from engineering to management.

Since business skills are teachable, the engineer can continue his education through training seminars and courses. Once the engineer comprehends the marketing concepts, he will understand that like engineering market is a process that can be easily broken down into individual steps. The engineer will also learn that the marketing for engineering business is not like marketing for any other type of business, and that an engineer is quite capable of performing many different types of marketing campaigns. An engineer will be pleased to know marketing engineering services do not require television and radio advertisements or elaborate magazine advertisements. Engineering marketing requires only one thing; communicating your knowledge about your business to prospective clients.

For the most part the vehicles utilized to communicate this knowledge are very familiar to the engineer. Most engineers are familiar with writing technical reports and making presentations on technical analysis and designs. This skill is also used in marketing. Turning some of these reports into articles for trade magazines is a form of marketing. Speaking at a convention or professional organization on some of your unique projects is another. There are numerous other ways to communicate your business to interested audiences.

The marketing skills and techniques can be learned through continuing education courses that are tailored for the engineering business. The two main sources for continuing education are seminars and study courses. Seminars are held on a specific date and time. Attendees are required to register and be present throughout the seminar to receive a Completion Certificate with Professional Development Hours. Seminars are usually either held at a specific location or on the internet.

What does your life look like?
Who is in your life?

How much money are you earning?
How much do you have in the bank?
What kind of a lifestyle would you have if your life was perfect in every respect?

Take your time….allow yourself the pleasure of dreaming ~ get a very clear picture in your mind. After all It is your life that you are creating.

Create a vision for yourself for your long term future. The clearer and more vivid you can make your vision of health, happiness, and prosperity, how you look, how you feel ~ the faster you move toward it and the faster it moves toward you. What happens when you create a clear mental picture of where you are going in life, you become more positive, more motivated, and more determined to make it a reality.

This technique will trigger your natural creativity and you start to come up with idea after idea to help make your vision come true. This is when your natural creative juices start to flow.

You will always move in the direction of your dominant dreams, images, and visions. The very act of giving yourself permission to dream big dreams actually raises your self-esteem and causes you to like and respect yourself even more. And so you should, you are a remarkable and wonderful person and deserve the best that life has to offer you.

Dreaming big dreams improves your self-concept and increases your level of self-confidence. Dreaming increases your personal level of self-respect and personal happiness. There is something about dreams and visions of the future that is exciting and it stimulates you to do and be better than you’ve ever been before.

Here’s a great question for you to ask and answer over and over again.

What one thing would you dare to dream if you knew you could not fail?

If you were absolutely guaranteed of success in any one thing in life, large or small, short term or long term, what would it be? What one great thing would you dare to dream if you knew you could not fail?

Take your time….give this some very serious thought. This is your life and this is the mindset of successful entrepreneurs. Successful Entrepreneurs start with the “Big Dream” and then visualize the outcome!

Whatever it is that you dream of, write it down and begin imagining that you have achieved this one great goal already. Then look back to where you are today.

What would you have done to get to where you want to go?
What steps would you have taken?
What would you have changed in your life?
What would you have gotten into or gotten out of?
Who would you be with?
Who would you no longer be with?
If your life was perfect in every respect, what would it look like?

Whatever it is that you would do differently, if you had no limitations, then it’s time to take the very first step today. Take the first step to becoming a successful entrepreneur.

What I do to ensure they succeed?

Some helpful business/marketing tips and an internet marketing business education:

Pick a business you like and something you can handle. This usually involves something with a sensible investment, easy to understand business concept, something people want, and most of all something you enjoy promoting/doing. A lot of times I find people promoting businesses/products they wouldn’t sell to their own family! The more you like your business the more likely you are to stay with it.

Sign up with a great upline. Sometimes as I said above this may just be luck. If you can, do your research and email your future upline, see how they can help you, ask about how they market, ask how the business has been for them, etc.

Sign up only serious people that want to succeed. Sometimes with internet marketing it is impossible to pick and choose who signs up…you will have over 90% that sign up and hope for money to fall from the sky. Don’t worry, you will know who these people are in a few weeks. What I suggest is to focus on the hard workers and train them well. Who knows some of the “deadbeats” might see that their co-workers hard work is paying off and start to produce or they will quit (which is a good thing for you). Remember, it is better to have a few strong players in your business than many weak.

Advertise in any medium comfortable to you, but I strongly advise being proficient at internet advertising that attracts prospects to you. I have been to many business networking sites..but in they end they ask for money even to receive emails!!! What a joke! The mediums that have worked well for me are posting on free ad sites, social network sites, instant messengers…eg., enter business chat rooms and network, promote your businesses, and videos (advertising media of the future and so much fun to make …soon you will be sending video emails….learn how to make movie ads).

It has a great appeal because it is not a 9 to 5 job, you are your own boss’ your hours are flexible etc.

Among the many choices Internet Marketing is one of the possibilities people are looking at.

Being a network marketing trainer myself I share with you here a couple of things I do for standard objections that come up. Would you like to tune in?

How many times have you come across a prospect who feels the products are too expensive? I always do! And here’s what I say…

“Expensive? Did you say the products are expensive?” On getting an irritated and slightly confused yes, I say. “Well that’s really interesting… which one did you find expensive?” Now they are usually stumped because their response was not based on personal use but heresay. If so, I give them a product gratis and ask them to use it for a month at my cost and see how much they can finish. I caution them that it lasts and lasts but not to take my word for it. This way I have a friendship and a repeat buyer.

In case they have used the product or they just feel xxx dollars was way too much, I ask. “Well firstname, what are you comparing this cost with?” They name some product. Then I say, “if you bought that product for 3 years you’d have spent xx dollars on it right? Now if you use this for 3 years according to this plan that I have promised to drive for you, you will have spent xx+yy dollars and earned zz dollars. That means the product would have actually cost you minus xz dollars. Like to check for yourself?”

Now before I close, I must mention that the price objection is rarely the real objection and you must not generally it. You’d do better to say “I see, and is there anything else that bothers you about starting up?” Repeat this question 3-4 times till you come to the real objection and then address it.

The first thing you have to consider for your web page is ease of access to information. Good site navigation planning, precise location indicators, clear linked text and a well organized structure all contribute to making information easy to find for a wide range of different users.

You have to bear in mind that many of your visitors are new internet users thus inexperienced. It may be necessary to include explanations of the things you consider self explanatory. For example, an internet newbie may need an explanation of how to use a drop down menu. The goal here is to make is as easy as possible for people to use your web site. You do not want your visitor to get confused and leave your page causing you to loose your sale.

For new or experienced internet marketers, one of the online business educations you will learn is on web site design. The objective of a good web page is to convert the visitors into a customer. We want to minimize any distraction or confusion for the user. In order to do that, it is a good idea to provide explanation for the different tools and menus on your web site. What we want is for the users to be comfortable navigating around our site until a point when they are ready to buy from us.
